Tired of spending all kinds of money on store bought puppy treats? Here are a couple of quick, easy and inexpensive recipes you can make from just a few simple ingredients found right in your very own pantry. Let's start with
Peanut Butter Puppy Treats with Pumpkin.

Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Pumpkin Puree
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 Cup Oats
- 3 Cups Flour
- 3 Tbsp Peanut Butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Stir together the flour and oats.
In a separate large bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter mixing completely. Stir wet ingredients into dry.
Pour onto a floured surface and roll dough out to 1/2 thick. Cut into bone shapes with a knife or cookie cutter. The dough will be a little sticky, dusting your hands and the rolling pin with flour to help.
Bake for appx. 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
Place on cooling racks and cool. Treats will harden as they cool.
Notes:
*1/2 teaspoon of salt may be added to these treats to help extend the shelf life but, it is optional.
*Cinnamon is also optional to use in this recipe, however DO NOT use a pumpkin spice blend or anything that could contain nutmeg. It is toxic to dogs and even in small amounts can make them sick.

Ingredients:
- 3 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
- 1 C. Oat Flour
- 2/3 C. Rolled Oats
- 1 Peeled Banana
- 1 Egg Beaten
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300°F.
Put banana in a large bowl and use a spoon or potato masher to mash it thoroughly.
Add oat flour, oats, peanut butter and egg and mix well to combine.
Set aside for 5 minutes.
Roll mixture into balls, using appx. 1 tablespoon dough for each ball; transfer to a large parchment paper-lined baking sheet as done. Use the back of a spoon to press each ball into a (1 1/2- to 2-inch) circle shape. Bake until firm and deep golden brown on the bottom, 40 to 45 minutes. Set aside to let cool completely.
These treats will keep best if you store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. You can freeze them to give to your furry friends later; but make sure and thaw them completely before sharing.
As you become more and more familiar with making your own puppy treats, you will find that most if not all of the ingredients can be found in your pantry. In general most treat recipes contain five to six ingredients and are pantry to finished in about an hour. Oh and don't forget puppy's like to lick the spoon too!!
