A “Pop” Rockin’ Baby Shower Food Idea – and a chance to WIN!

Dipped marshmallows are a simple baby shower food idea, and the variety of available dipping options makes it easy to find a recipe that matches your theme. To create a treat fit for a rock ‘n’ roll baby shower, we knew the recipe had to be tasty but unique – and a combination of pink sprinkles and strawberry-flavored Pop Rocks was the answer!

Girl Skull Baby Shower

Simply dip dampened marshmallows into your sprinkle combination (which we combined to ensure that the treats would be bright pink), and display the coated marshmallows in a lollipop stand decorated with craft paper and BigDotofHappiness.com’s own Skullicious – Baby Girl Skull baby shower stickers. This uniquely sweet treat will give your guests a literal “pop” of fun! Read on for details… and a chance to WIN a $100 Big Dot of Happiness gift certificate!

You’ll need:

Directions:

  1. Skewer a single, dampened marshmallow and roll it gently in your sprinkle combination. (Tip: Some of the Pop Rocks were much larger than the sprinkles and didn’t stay on the marshmallow quite as welll, so I crushed them a bit to be the same size as the sprinkles. This didn’t diminish their “popping” ability at all, though!)
  2. Gently tap the skewer on the side of your dish to remove excess sprinkles, then set aside momentarily to dry.
  3. Repeat until the desired amount of marshmallows are coated.
  4. While the marshmallows are drying (which takes only a minute or two, especially if you’re not using chocolate or any sort of base), decorate your lollipop stand with coordinating craft paper and personalized stickers.
  5. When your stand is decorated, carefully stand each marshmallow skewer into the stand and fill the bottom with coordinating candy.
  6. Stand back and watch your guests enjoy their “rockin’” treat!

You can display these Pop Rock-coated marshmallows as part of a larger candy buffet (complete with rock candy and other themed treats) or use them as rock ‘n’ roll centerpieces for your party tables! Just be sure to make extras – these fun treats will go fast!

  21. My favorite food on a stick for winter is a marshmallow dunker. You need large marshmallows, chocolate and candy canes. Break the hook off the candy canes so you have just a straight cane, then crush up the hooks into tiny pieces. Melt the chocolate and dip the marshmallow in it the then immediately into the crushed candy cane pieces. Set aside to set. Then push straight canes into marshmallows. Use for dunking in your hot chocolate, coffee or put in pretty bags and give as party favors at your holiday party or as yummy home made gifts for friends, family or co-workers!
