A Truly Unique Party Idea: DIY Thumbprint Guest Books!

How to Make a Thumbprint Guest Book

How to Make a Thumbprint Guest BookA memorable alternative to the traditional guest book, DIY thumbprint guest books are easy to make and even easier to display – and enjoy – after the celebration is over! These “interactive” guest books can be used at a variety of parties, from weddings and birthday parties to baby showers and baptisms! Simply display a large canvas with your desired image on it (popular designs include trees, balloons and wreathes), provide a few pads of ink, and encourage each guest to press their thumbprint onto the canvas as they arrive. The result is a truly unique guest book that will forever commemorate the special day!

You’ll need:

  • A large, blank canvas onto which the silhouette of a tree, balloon bouquet, wreath or other design is printed or drawn.
  • Ink pads in various colors

Tips for a successful thumbprint guest book:

  • Post instructions. Some guests may not know what to do when confronted with the canvas and ink pads as they arrive at your party, so be sure to display clear instructions so that no one forgets to add their special “signature.”
  • Provide wet wipes and a waste basket. Don’t leave your guests with inky fingers and no way to get clean. Set out damp towels, tissue or wet wipes and a waste basket so they can conveniently sign the guest book and continue enjoying the festivities!

Depending on your baby shower, birthday party, bridal shower or baptism theme, you can use the guest book design to show off your unique interests or match the party décor! The more creative you are, the more personal this guest book will be.
