Dog Cake Ideas: Where to get a Dog Cake #PoochPawtyWhere do I find a dog cake? This is a question we have heard numerous times and there are many great options to fit your time and budget. From fancy treats to feed the whole pack to single cupcakes for one special pup, here are a few ideas of where to start when you are looking for a dog birthday cake or a puppy shower cake.

    1. Order It & Ship It
If you have it in your dog party budget and if you have the time to wait for it to arrive, there are numerous online options for ordering a puppy cake. Etsy or Dog Cakes for Dogs are great sources. Dog Cakes for Dogs offers cakes for all dog party occasions. They have custom dog cakes that look like your pup which are perfect for dog birthday parties or puppy showers. They also have Bark Mitzvah cakes and pupcakes. Too fun! Of course, there are other options for online ordering but Dog Cakes for Dogs had a great variety.

    2. Order It & Pick It Up
Finding a local bakery that will make a dog cake isn't an option for everyone. If you are lucky enough to have one nearby, you will be able to work directly with the baker to create a custom cake, with choices of flavor, decoration and shape. Three Dog Bakery is a popular chain and you might but be lucky enough to have one by you! Go to the bottom of the page and search your state to see if there is a local bakery.

    3. Make It Yourself - From Scratch!
This may seem like a huge task at first but making your own dog cake is actually quite easy. There are numerous recipes online and you can even use a fun bone-shaped baking pan to bake it in. You can even make pupcakes for individual treats. There are a lot of dog cupcake recipes as well but we found this one and simply couldn't resist the adorable pup being celebrated. Check out Calvin and his Easy Peanut Butter Cupcakes for Dogs.

    4. Make It Yourself - From a Mix, shhhh...
Your last option is to make a yummy dog cake from a box mix. These work just like a people cake mix with similar ingredients, minus the sugar. They are super easy and can be made into a cake or cupcakes - we won't tell it came from a mix!

After you have decided on the right dog cake for you, it is time to make sure your puppy knows just how to eat it!

    5. Treats // Don't forget about your people guests! Offer them some sweet treats in your party's accent color - just be sure to keep them away from the pups.

Ziggy's Bark Mitzvah - A Bar Mitzvah for Dogs #PoochPawtyZiggy's mom hosted a fabulous Bark Mitzvah (a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah for dogs) and used our concierge design service to bring the pawty to life!

She started with our Chevron Boy Bruffday dog party decorations but changed the colors to be a royal blue, light blue and silver gray. This was the perfect color combination for Ziggy's Bark Mitzvah. He even had his own dog yarmulke and tallit.

After a ceremony especially for Ziggy, there was food & drinks - and a lot of attention for this special pup! What an adorable event for a pooch that is certainly loved.

We literally barked out loud when we saw our dog party planning tips in City Dog Magazine. You know that type of bark. The first one is a little hesitant, just checking to make sure a real bark should follow. The next one is an all-out bark, a little louder and a little more sure. The third is an actual bark-hop, when your tail wags so fast your rump leaps off the ground. Yup, that kind of bark.

We are happy to host Brandi Elliott, author of Death by Chocolate Lab, with her tips on including your pup in all of life's celebrations.

There are so many benefits of owning a dog, it is no wonder we would want to share our lives with them, and that can include our parties. Here are some easy ways to make sure that your four-legged friend is included in your next get-together.

    1. Location, Location, Location!

This really is the cardinal rule for so many things. If you want to include dogs at your party, make sure that you host the party at a dog-friendly locale. Places like backyards, beaches, or safe parks can be ideal. Just make sure to do your homework to ensure that both pup and guests will be happy.

    2. Include Fido on the Invite

When sending out your invitations, make sure it is clear that everyone is welcome to bring their best friend, furry or not! Check out these cute invitations.

    3. Make Puppies Feel at Home with Toys!

Don't forget your manners. You've invited them, you should make sure they are having a good time. Guests will love to see them running around playing, not to mention it will be a good conversation starter.

    4. Don't Forget to Feed 'em!

You wouldn't throw a party and not have food and drinks for your guests, would you? That includes your canine guests, too. Time to break out those treat recipes. Try this no bake recipe. Remember to provide plenty of fresh water.

No matter what you are celebrating, you can include your favorite pooch at the party. Just keep these things in mind when planning and all your guests will have a blast!

We know you share your home with some special furbabies and they will always be #1 but ... it is important to make your house guests comfortable for their short stay as well. Follow these tips to remove pet allergens from your home to make everyone's time enjoyable. After all, Great Gram might not appreciate your in-home fur fest.

No matter what, you will never remove ALL of the allergens from your home but these tips will certainly keep them to a minimum. Guests with dog and cat allergies may still be sensitive to your home, even after the most thorough cleaning. Being mindful of their needs and sometimes moving your celebration to a different location is the best choice.
