All Shiny and Bright – A Ladybug Picnic is a Sure Delight

Modern Ladybug Party Decorations

One of Big Dot’s favorite Superfans, Suling, is a definite Hostess Hero as she creates amazing events celebrating all of life’ special occasions. She chose the Modern Ladybug theme to honor her daughter’s first birthday and it simply couldn’t have been more perfect. Her use of Modern Ladybug do-it-yourself items along with Ladybug shaped soap birthday party favors was only made better with the addition of coordinating Modern Ladybug tableware.Modern Ladybug Party Decorations

Suling put together an impressive buffet table that pulled the ladybug birthday party theme into the food choices as well. Her deviled eggs and cracker hors d’oeuvres topped with tomato ladybugs were almost too cute to eat. The addition of cheese and meat cubes put together with matching frilled party picks helped create a completely coordinated table. Fruit kabobs and other finger foods rounded out the food choices while the cupcake stand made an impressive centerpiece. Modern Ladybug Party Inspiration

Suling was kind enough to share her Sweet Jello Treat Recipe:

Red Jello mixed to package directions and poured into single-serving cups (If you use Dixie Clear Plastic Pete Cups, for cold beverages in the 9 oz. size or an equivalent container, the coordinating Modern Ladybug cupcake wrapper fits perfectly!)

After the Jello is set, add a dollop of creamy Supreme Vanilla frosting (Made pink with a bit of red food coloring)

Chocolate sticks make the Ladybug’s antenna; a blackberry for Ladybug’s head; and a strawberry for the wings

The dots on the wings are Chocolate gel!

    1. Hi Johanna! Great question! The little dots are made out of a tiny bit of black frosting. When used in just a tiny amount, it doesn’t taste too sweet on top of a savory snack like this! Thanks for stopping by! Have a Big Dot Day!

  2. I’m planning my daughters birthday party, and the theme is ladybug and I fell in love with the crackers and the jello! But what are the little baby jars filled with?

  3. Could you please tell me what the chocolate sticks are that are in the recipe for the sweet jello treat recipe? Or at least where to get them?

    THANKS!

    1. Hi Debby- You have a few antennae choices when you make these fun ladybugs. Depending on the size of your blackberry, you can use Pocky sticks for larger berries or just dip your own pretzel sticks into chocolate for the smaller berries. Pocky sticks can be ordered online through Amazon or found at your local grocer, typically in the Asian foods section. Let us know if you have any other questions and please be sure to share images of your little ladybugs on our Facebook page and on Instagram with #BigDot
