Do It Yourself Puppy Party Ideas

Humane associations are always looking for donations as they are in constant need for their furry friends trying to find a fur-ever home. You can help with these fun ways to raise money for your local humane association. From friends and family celebrations to huge community events, every little bit helps!

    1. Host a Dog Party

Diesel's Mom, Iris, has been planning dog birthday parties for him his whole life. Each of these events is hosted to raise money for their local animal rescue. This year, they used our Chevron Boy Bruffday party theme to style this fantastic event. What an amazing way to gather friends and family for a celebration while honoring a charity that is close to everyone's heart. Happy Birthday, Diesel!

    2. Organize a Car Wash/Dog Wash

If you have a local business who is willing to offer outdoor space - or better yet, at the shelter parking lot to bring even more awareness - You and some friends can offer up your services to clean pups and trucks! Just be sure to promote your event on social media early enough so you get the word out about your event.

    3. Holiday Ornaments

During the holidays, you can sell handmade ornaments at your local pet stores or other animal-friendly shops. Think about coffee shops that cater to dogs, local retailers who love pups and cruelty-free cosmetic or beauty shops who care about animals.

    4. Host a Dog-Friendly Run-Walk

Run/walk events are super popular for everyone but a lot don't allow for dogs to also attend. Host a pooch-friendly event through a park or at a hiking trail so everyone can participate. With the right promotion and a reasonable entry fee, you are sure to get a good turn-out AND have a nice donation to your local rescue.

Are you trying to raise money for your local charity? What kind of events are you planning? Tell us below!

I like to give all my friends a special treat so I gathered my buddies, Lulu, Buttercup and Hank to bake some fun dog treats to share at the dog park. This was super simple as it began as a box of Puppy Cake mix. I added a few special touches and hot diggity - pawsome treats to share with all my friends!

Valentine's Day Dog Treat Ideas #PoochPawty

First, I made the cake batter according to directions. I poured it into a 9x13 pan so it was a really thin layer. After baking for 15 minutes, it was ready! I let it cool then used a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to make the treats.

To complete them, I mixed the frosting (it's included in the box!) and used a small piping bag to decorate. After drying, these treats were ready to put into baggies and top off with an adorable Valentine's Day sticker I found here on Etsy. They were personalized with my friend's names so they made each treat bag extra special!

Hot Diggity Dog Party Ideas and Decorations #PoochPawty #DogParty

    1. Do It Yourself Craft Tags // Craft tags are a great way to bring your dog party theme to life. They add the little extra-special touches to your event that everyone will remember. Pollyanna's mom used they to dress up her utensil holders and floral centerpieces.

    2. Custom Dog Hat // Nothing is cuter than a dog in a hat - and these are personalized to make them that much better! Order one for your furbaby or a bunch for all of your guests. Both human and dog friends won't be able to resist wearing them.

    3. Bone-Shaped Cut Outs // Bone-shaped cut outs are another great DIY party essential. Use a hole punch and some ribbon to dress up your utensil wraps; attach them to fishing line to make a fun banner or scatter them like table confetti.

    4. Gold Sixlets Candy // Gold Sixlets party candy will be a fab addition to your buffet table. The shimmering gold candy coating will add some party pizzazz to your event. They look amazing in clear containers and can be eaten alone or used to top off an ice cream sundae. And, because they are carob, you don't have to worry if one of the pooches accidentally nabs one (just be sure to keep it out of reach so they don't get into them on purpose).

    5. Pooch Bow Tie // Make sure your guest of honor is dressed to impress. A Hot Diggity Dog bow tie will make your pooch look pawsome and give plenty of photo ops for your guests. Who wouldn't want a picture with an adorable pup in a bow tie and party hat?

    6. Custom Dog Party Banner // An impressive addition to your backyard or at the front door, a custom dog party banner is a must have! Not only will it make your event perfectly themed and festive, it will give your guests a great place to gather for photos.

Now that you have your dog party foundations, it is time to celebrate your pooch and

    THE SUPPLY LIST:
    - Fabric Scrap, cut into 3 pieces
    - Small Ponytail Holder
    - Hot Glue Gun & Scissors
    - Tag & Ribbon with Bag for Gifting

STEP 1 | Cut 3 pieces of fabric:
    2 - 5” x 7”
    1 - 1.5” x 4”
On the 2 large pieces: Glue the long sides onto each other.  Overlap one piece more than the other for two rectangles, one with a slightly smaller width than the other.

STEP 2 | On the 2 large pieces, glue the short sides onto each other. Overlap one piece more than the other for two rectangles, one with a slightly smaller length than the other.

STEP 3 | On the 1 smallest piece: Glue the long ends onto each other, similar to how you did it on the first large piece.

STEP 4 | Stack your larger pieces, smaller rectangle on top. It is starting to look like a bow tie now. Wrap with smallest piece under as the center band and lay ponytail holder across the stacked pieces.

STEP 5 | Snip the ends of the smallest center piece so they just slightly overlap and glue, being careful not to glue the ponytail holder.  Fluff and shape to be the perfect bow tie!

STEP 6 | Slide collar through the ponytail holder so your pooch can proudly wear their new festive bow tie - or wrap for gifting.

To gift, slide into a bag (we used clear), and tie off with a tag and ribbon.

Dog Cake Ideas: Where to get a Dog Cake #PoochPawtyWhere do I find a dog cake? This is a question we have heard numerous times and there are many great options to fit your time and budget. From fancy treats to feed the whole pack to single cupcakes for one special pup, here are a few ideas of where to start when you are looking for a dog birthday cake or a puppy shower cake.

    1. Order It & Ship It
If you have it in your dog party budget and if you have the time to wait for it to arrive, there are numerous online options for ordering a puppy cake. Etsy or Dog Cakes for Dogs are great sources. Dog Cakes for Dogs offers cakes for all dog party occasions. They have custom dog cakes that look like your pup which are perfect for dog birthday parties or puppy showers. They also have Bark Mitzvah cakes and pupcakes. Too fun! Of course, there are other options for online ordering but Dog Cakes for Dogs had a great variety.

    2. Order It & Pick It Up
Finding a local bakery that will make a dog cake isn't an option for everyone. If you are lucky enough to have one nearby, you will be able to work directly with the baker to create a custom cake, with choices of flavor, decoration and shape. Three Dog Bakery is a popular chain and you might but be lucky enough to have one by you! Go to the bottom of the page and search your state to see if there is a local bakery.

    3. Make It Yourself - From Scratch!
This may seem like a huge task at first but making your own dog cake is actually quite easy. There are numerous recipes online and you can even use a fun bone-shaped baking pan to bake it in. You can even make pupcakes for individual treats. There are a lot of dog cupcake recipes as well but we found this one and simply couldn't resist the adorable pup being celebrated. Check out Calvin and his Easy Peanut Butter Cupcakes for Dogs.

    4. Make It Yourself - From a Mix, shhhh...
Your last option is to make a yummy dog cake from a box mix. These work just like a people cake mix with similar ingredients, minus the sugar. They are super easy and can be made into a cake or cupcakes - we won't tell it came from a mix!

After you have decided on the right dog cake for you, it is time to make sure your puppy knows just how to eat it!

Style a dog-gone fun pooch party with a Leopard dog party theme. This fun animal print is great for any occasion and will look perfect with your favorite accent color. This event used pinks to make it super girly for Ruby's first birthday.

Animal Print Dog Party Ideas: Leopard Party Theme #PoochPawty

    1. Die Cut Tags // One of the most versatile craft supplies for any event, die cut tags looked fabulous tied to treat jars. The personalization is just one more reason to add them to all of your buffet containers and doggie treat bags.

    2. Poster // Custom posters fill you party space with a grand statement - and they look great afterward hung above food and water bowls or above your pooches bed.

    3. Water Bottle Labels // Every pooch party is going to have fresh water for the pups. You won't want to ruin your table display with the ugly store labels so be sure to dress up the bottles with these fun wrappers.

    5. Treats // Don't forget about your people guests! Offer them some sweet treats in your party's accent color - just be sure to keep them away from the pups.

Ziggy's Bark Mitzvah - A Bar Mitzvah for Dogs #PoochPawtyZiggy's mom hosted a fabulous Bark Mitzvah (a Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah for dogs) and used our concierge design service to bring the pawty to life!

She started with our Chevron Boy Bruffday dog party decorations but changed the colors to be a royal blue, light blue and silver gray. This was the perfect color combination for Ziggy's Bark Mitzvah. He even had his own dog yarmulke and tallit.

After a ceremony especially for Ziggy, there was food & drinks - and a lot of attention for this special pup! What an adorable event for a pooch that is certainly loved.

Hosting the perfect dog party is easy with a little planning and a few key decorations. Follow these party decoration tips to style an impressive Chevron Boy Bruffday puppy shower or dog birthday party.

Chevron Boy Bruffday Dog Party Theme & Decoration Ideas #PoochPawty

    1. Do It Yourself Craft Tags // You are definitely going to have one DIY party decoration so be sure to order custom craft tags to dress it up and make it perfectly themed. These versatile tags will look great on favor bags or at the candy buffet tied around pretty containers.

    2. Custom Candy Boxes // Every party needs to have some way for guests to enjoy the delicious snacks you made. Pre-fill these treat boxes with puppy chow or pup corn, or leave in them at the candy buffet and let guests choose what they want to put in them.

    3. Cupcake Pick and Wrapper // Cupcakes are one of the easiest treats to offer to human guests at your dog party. You can have them pre-made by your local baker, find them at a grocery store or make them yourself - it doesn't get any better! Wherever you choose to get your sweet treat from, be sure to dress it up with cupcake decorations for a delicious display your guests will love.

    4. Blue Sixlets Candy // Blue Sixlets party candy is a fun way to add a little something extra to your buffet table. The fun round candies are carob chocolate and coated in a hard candy shell. They will look pawsome in all of your clear jars and containers. And, because they are carob, you don't have to worry if one of the pooches accidentally nabs one (just be sure to keep it out of reach so they don't get into them on purpose).

    2. Pooch Bow Tie // You absolutely need one special item for your guest of honor and a Chevron Boy Bruffday bow tie is the perfect accessory for your pooch. Order just one to make your pup the center of attention or get numerous ones for all of your party guests. Human friends love to wear them as bow head bands or on their own neck. This is party neckware that is a guaranteed hit.

    2. Custom Banner // If you need to choose only a few of our party foundations, a custom banner is the absolute must. It is a large size to make an impressive statement and has room for personalized text to make sure every guest know just where the party is at. This is the easiest party decoration to use and will certainly have a dramatic impact on your party space.

Now that you have your party foundations, it is time to celebrate your pooch and
